Why Tony Khan must do everything to keep a hold of MJF in 2023

MJF is the best promo and character in AEW, he is unique from the rest of the roster. Whilst everyone else, you Bryan Danielsons, Kenny Omegas, PACs etc have banger matches every week, MJF tells a story through his charisma and amazing mic skills.

His mantra is very simple, he is better than you and you know it. He has got himself over through talking and it makes everyone of his segments must watch TV, he said it himself in his pipebomb, he is the biggest minute by minute draw in All Elite Wrestling and you understand why.

MJF draws in a lot of audiences never mind, what you like in wrestling. Whether you are into the realism, MJF talks about contracts and stopping his opponents getting title matches through clauses. If you like great matches, go, and see his matches with CM Punk, the dog collar at Revolution 2022 especially, and his match with Darby Allin as well. If you like promos and story telling through the mic, just go and watch any MJF segment.

MJF speaks about, the bidding war of 2024, which is a gimmick that is very simple. He speaks about what he’s worth and what company will pay him the most money. WWE vs AEW, whatever contract has the most zeros is what he will sign. Putting Tony on the back foot and giving him a choice to make, whether he signs one of his top stars or you let him go to your biggest competitors.

Given he is the top champion in the company, there is so much storyline potential that you can do. Could you get CM Punk back? To either surprise team with MJF or re start their feud from before ‘Brawl Out’, or could you even as WWE to try and get Cody Rhodes to come back in a one off and try and wrestle the title out of MJF’s hands and stop him taking it to WWE. Cody could win and the vacate it as just a one off favour to Tony.

If you pace it right, then there is a lot you can do but the one thing you cannot do is let him go to WWE. Every AEW fan right now want to grab Tony and just tell him ‘PAY THE MAN TONY’ because he’s better than you, and you know it, the worst thing you want him to be is better than you in the other company.
