The Roman Reigns title run has been the totem poll for WWE, making Smackdown must watch TV ever since the Triple H era of creative started. The tribal chief character was becoming stale in June and July of 2022. But the addition of Sami Zayn to the group has added the spark that it needed and making it the best thing in wrestling, and arguably, the best story in wrestling ever.
But we are getting the point with the head of the table of over dominance, and it is starting to be discussed of who should be the one to end his historic title reign. The names banded about by the wrestling fandom have been Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens maybe the Rock but the name who is on the lips of every wrestling fan is Sami Zayn and whilst I believe that would be a great moment, I want to throw another name into the hat that would give the entire story a nice ending. Here’s why I believe Jey Uso should defeat Roman Reigns.

The entire nickname and mantra for Roman started by him beating Jey Uso and becoming the head of his family, beating him in two outstanding matches at Clash of champions and Hell in a Cell and Jey has been associated with Roman since the very beginning, and they have started to sew seeds of dissension between the two recently. Jey shouting ‘ I don’t give a damn what the tribal chief wants’ and even recently we have seen Roman apologise to Sami for how he spoke to him when we have never seen Roman apologise to Jey for how he treated him in 2020.
And you could also call back to those feuds in 2020 as Jey was never pinned by Roman, at Clash of champions it was Jimmy who threw the towel in and at Hell in a cell, it was Jey who said ‘I quit’ to save Jimmy from a beat down. There is a lot of story line you can call back to and Jey can speak about how he’s the one who really cares for his family as he saved his family from Roman and that’s the reason why Roman is still champion.

Its not only storyline Jey deserves it having been beside roman and putting his body on the line to save the title reign, but he’s had some outstanding matches. Tag matches with New day, Street Profits, brawling brutes, singles match back when he was ‘main event Jey Uso’ with AJ styles, Daniel Bryan, Edge, holding his own vs some of the best ever is more than noteworthy.

Also, his acting in this storyline with Sami Zayn and some infighting within the bloodline has been outstanding, small facial expressions in the background of shots, and In the war games match, looking so happy with Sami Zayn and changing his tune about the ‘Honorary Uce’ and gauging the biggest pop for a hug since Macho man and Elizabeth deserves a lot of credit.

Whether you have the big Rock vs Roman match that you want and draw the money and all the casuals who will come back, fair enough. You don’t have to do it at Mania, could do it at Summerslam or whenever, I just think this is the best story WWE could tell and it would be a swerve from the Sami or Cody rumours that everyone is wanting.
I’m not saying that Cody or Sami or Owens would be a bad thing, either one of them would be more than deserved, but with all the storyline beats that they have in place and drawing it from history, Jey would be an excellent choice.
